Man In Tampa Arrested For DUI After Crashing Into Parked Sheriff’s Office Patrol Car
Just after midnight on August 18th, Donald Leon Whitfield crashed his Oldsmobile Alero into a marked Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Dodge Charger. The emergency lights were flashing on the parked patrol vehicle as deputies were assisting the Florida Highway Patrol on an unrelated traffic crash.
Whitfield struck the front left side of the patrol vehicle causing minor damage to the HCSO Charger. Whitfield’s vehicle suffered considerably more damage. The airbag on his vehicle was deployed. A one year old child was riding in the backseat but did not appear to have any injuries.
Whitfield took a field sobriety test and blew a .171 blood alcohol content.
Whitfield has a previous DUI and was driving on a suspended licence. He was also charged with child neglect.
