McDonald's New Fried Chicken Sandwich Gears Up To Battle Popeyes And Chick-fil-A A new chicken sandwich is coming to town. McDonald’s is gearing up to release a new chicken sandwich early next year to compete against Popeyes and Chick-Fil-A, who have seen their chicken sandwich sales grow. McDonald’s new chicken sandwich will feature a fried chicken filet served on a buttery potato roll, topped with butter and pickles. The deluxe version will have lettuce, tomato, and mayo.

Franchisees asked for a southern-style chicken sandwich as Chick-Fil-A and Popeye’s sandwiches were threatening their businesses.
