Singer FKA Twigs Opens Up About Abuse from Ex Shia LaBeouf

In her first TV interview since filing a civil lawsuit against ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs talks about her relationship with LaBeouf. According to CBS News, she accuses LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault and intentionally inflicting emotional distress. LaBeouf’s lawyer says he denies all allegations, which were made in December last year.

FKA Twigs told Gayle King of CBS This Morning, “I wanted to come forward, because victims and survivors shouldn’t have to feel alone.” She reveals harrowing stories of the alleged abuse Shia LaBeouf subjected her to during the course of their relationship, which began in 2018. They met during the filming of Honey Boy, a movie LaBeouf wrote about his childhood. Their relationship lasted less than a year, and she recounted that there were red flags from the very beginning. In the interview, she says LaBeouf would be “putting me on a pedestal, telling me that I was amazing, over-the-top displays of affection, just to knock me off the pedestal, to tell me that I was worthless, to criticize me, to berate me, to, you know, pick me apart.”

Shia LaBeouf told the New York Times in an email, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
