WandaVision's Paul Bettany and The Crown's Claire Foy have signed on to star in season 2 of A Very British Scandal, a BBC/Amazon Studios limited series which re-examines tabloid "scandals" of the past, per The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the outlet, Bettany and Foy will play the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, a high-society couple whose very public divorce was a tabloid sensation of '60s Britain. Famed for her charisma, beauty and style, Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, found herself condemned by the press -- accused of forgery, theft, violence and drug abuse, with media coverage at the time centering an explicit polaroid picture.

Writer Sarah Phelps said the drama is a "tribute" to Margaret saying, "I felt very strongly that she’d been punished for being a woman, for being visible, for refusing to back down, be a good girl and go quietly."

36-year-old Foy said she was excited to "explore through this story, how often shame, judgment and controversy surrounds a woman's sexuality."

49-year-old Bettany added that he was "delighted to be working with the remarkable Claire Foy to tell the fascinating and scandalous story of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and their very complicated lives."

Shooting of the three-part series is set to begin in the U.K. later this year. Season 2 of A Very British Scandal will be released on Amazon Prime Video in the US.

The first season of 2018's A Very English Scandal starred Hugh Grant and The Lobster's Ben Whishaw.
