On Tuesday in Melbourne Florida, the Brevard County School Board voted to fire teacher Allison Enright. As reported by NBC2, the school district has a policy that allows students to use medical marijuana but not the teachers. The reasoning used by the school board is that the school needs to enforce a drug free workplace to receive federal grants.
After a drug test, she acknowledged that she takes a pill containing THC for a health condition. Medical THC is legal in Florida. Members of the school board admitted that they didn't want to fire her, but they needed to follow the drug-free policy.
There has been no word on whether Allison Enright plans to appeal the decision. Or if she can.
