VIDEO: Florida Crocodile Breaks Out Of Zoo’s Transport Van

Could you imagine driving down the road in Florida and seeing a crocodile break out of a transport van from a zoo while it was moving? That is exactly what happened in St. Augustine.

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm was transporting the crocodile to another area of the zoo when the huge reptile broke the back window of the van, got out while it was driving and tried to escape!

THIS is why we have extensive training and do drills, to prepare for moments like this. 🐊 Earlier today, we were relocating crocodilians to another area of the Zoo. They were secured and placed into our Zoo Van. This animal broke the back window of the van and made a dash down the road. Our crew acted quickly to recapture it, and deliver it safely to it’s new habitat. At no time was there any real danger as the animal’s mouth was secured. And impressive “GIRL POWER”! Karsyn (Reptile Keeper) and Gen (General Curator) recaptured it, with help from Ryan and Donald from Maintenance. 🙌Thank you to Jessica Stark for this awesome video!

The zoo said in a Facebook post, “Our crew acted quickly to recapture it, and deliver it safely to its new habitat. At no time was there any real danger as the animal’s mouth was secured.”

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “after while, crocodile”…

    This snake is as nasty as it’s name implies. It lives in a wide variety of habitats including marshes and swamps, dry pine forests, sandhills, wet prairies, and wherever it finds food. It can grow up to 8 feet long, is faster than you, and can outswim you. It’s bite has a mortality rate up to 30%.

  • Florida Cottonmouth

    This thing hangs out in swampy regions, wooded regions along watercourses, and along the edges of cypress ponds. It’s even made it’s way to some islands. You probably won’t die if it bites you, but amputations? Yeah, amputations.
