Nelly Furtado wants to make a comeback in pop music, enlisting a hot star to help her make it happen. In a new interview with Elle Mexico, the "Promiscuous" singer says she would like to collaborate with Dua Lipa. Discussing which newer talents she'd like to collaborate with, Furtado, 44, said she was a fan of Bad Bunny, Dua Lipa, and Drake. Of the ones she listed, she elaborated most on the "New Rules" singer.

“Dua Lipa seems very talented to me, I met her last summer, and we have met several times, I feel like our voices would go very well together. Sometimes I send her tracks," she told the publication. "The truth is I am open to everything, collaborating is the best way to learn and teach." While Dua was performing in Toronto last July, she took a selfie with Furtado and shared it on her Instagram Stories.

Mutual Love For Each Other

In a previous interview with Glamcult, Lipa said that around age six, she discovered Nelly Furtado and P!nk. "That was a wild change to me. I really felt like: 'Omg, I want to be like them.'" Specifically, she "really liked their bad bitch attitude. It made me want to identify myself with them, but also with their lyrics, as everything they write is so true! For me, that was the reason to start studying their work."

Furtado, whose 2006 Loose album featured hits like "Promiscuous," "Say It Right," and "Maneater," suffered a nervous breakdown that year. Between being a mom for the first time and touring, the Canadian singer-songwriter couldn't take it anymore and decided to take a break to dedicate herself to her family. Her return to music features a new EDM track titled "Eat Your Man," co-produced with DJ Dom Dolla.

A few weeks ago, Furtado reunited with frequent collaborator Timbaland in the studio and shared it on Instagram with a video. Answering fan questions, Nelly squashed any rumored beef between the two while adding they've had "creative differences" but always respected each other. Timbaland joked that that's what they do best: "push each other." When someone said, "I want you on my team. So does everybody else," the duo got a kick out of the callback lyric. Elsewhere in the video, Furtado revealed she's been in the studio recording over the last year as a warm-up for Timbaland.
