Demi Lovato may have been "Cool For The Summer," but now she is switching gears to have a Winter Wonderland with a new holiday special for Roku. The streamer has ordered A Very Demi Holiday Special, according to Deadline, which will see the singer perform classic holiday songs such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” Lovato, 31, will also perform a surprise duet as well as tracks from her latest album, HOLY FVCK, and some of her classic hits. The special will launch on December 8.

Lovato said in the press release, "The holidays are such a special time of year, and I can’t wait to put my special twist on the celebrations." As the musician is executive producing the special with OBB Pictures, OBB CEO Michael D. Ratner also shared a statement about the streaming event. "We’ve had the honor of collaborating with Demi a number of times, and across documentaries, music videos, live performances, and podcasts, we’ve seen first-hand how uniquely multi-talented Demi is," Ratner said.
Per Deadline, the singer-songwriter is currently collaborating with OBB Pictures on their directorial debut. Next year, she’ll release Child Star for Hulu, which we reported will be a documentary about former famous child stars’ experiences growing up in the spotlight. Child Star will explore “how children are propelled to superstardom at a young age and how their rise to fame, fortune, and power affects their futures.” Lovato said back in March, “There is no better film or topic for my directorial debut than this story, which is close to home.” She said their project sheds light on "learning to protect our boundaries and becoming active advocates of our own destinies." The singer, who made her television debut in 2002 when she was just ten years old, starred in Barney & Friends. Six years later, she booked her breakout role on Disney’s movie Camp Rock, alongside the Jonas Brothers.
18 of the Best Pop Christmas Song Covers
'Tis the season to get your holiday playlists filled up! We love the classics like Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" and "Jingle Bell Rock," but what we really want to hear is our favorite pop stars sing their renditions of Christmas songs! Below, we have compiled absolute must-have Christmas covers.
Miley Cyrus - Last Christmas
Originally released by British pop duo Wham!, Miley Cyrus's cover of "Last Christmas" made it completely her own.
Ne-Yo - The Christmas Song
Ne-Yo's cover of Nat King Cole's 1961 "The Christmas Song" fills our hearts with warmth.
Kylie Minogue - Santa Baby
The sexiest Santa song there is, "Santa Baby" sounds the sultriest covered by Kylie Minogue.
Gwen Stefani - Jingle Bells
Gwen Stefani performed her version of "Jingle Bells" on the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2017, showing us an amazing interpretation of the 1889 original.
Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
Yeah, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's song is cool, but Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson's cover is way cooler. And hey, it features John and Yoko's son Sean.
Spice Girls - Christmas Wrapping
Spice up your life with Spice Girls' cover of 1981 new wave band The Waitresses.
Destiny's Child - Silent Night
There have been many covers of "Silent Night," but Destiny's Child did it best, as the trio of ladies offer a different approach to the song that was originally made way back when in 1818.
Ariana Grande and Mac Miller - Baby It's Cold Outside
“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” performed by Ariana Grande and Mac Miller as a duet, under his jazz-genre pseudonym Larry Lovestein.
Whitney Houston - Do You Hear What I Hear?
No one has ever topped (or will ever top) Whitney Houston's version of Bing Crosby's 1963 classic.
Phoebe Bridgers - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Have yourself a (hauntingly) merry little Christmas with Phoebe Bridgers cover of Judy Garland's 1944 classic.
John Legend - Silver Bells
John Legend put out his Christmas album, A Legendary Christmas, in 2018, and "Silver Bells" is by far the best.
Christina Aguilera - Christmas Time
Christina Aguilera's powerful voice is just the break we needed of the softer Christmas songs we're used to. Her version adds just enough sugar and spice.
Justin Bieber - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
A young Justin Bieber's 2011 cover of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," helping make his toys in this wholesome music video.
Demi Lovato - All I Want For Christmas Is You
Performing at the annual Christmas in Washington special, Lovato performed Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in front of then-president Barack Obama with a full choir.
Taylor Swift - White Christmas
From her 2007 holiday album titled Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, a young Taylor Swift sings her rendition of the 1956 original by The Drifters.
Harry Styles - Wonderful Christmastime
The former One Direction-er covers "Wonderful Christmastime" by Sir Paul McCartney in a fresh way with a live band.
Beyoncé - Ave Maria
As if Beyoncé can make a song that doesn't send chills down our spine, her cover of "Ave Maria" blows us away.
Selena Gomez and The Scene - Winter Wonderland
In 2009, Selena Gomez covered this pop-rock cover of 1934's "Winter Wonderland."
