Island In Florida Makes Forbes’ List Of Top Travel Destinations In 2025
If you’re starting to make vacation plans for next year, an island in Florida has made Forbes’ list of top travel destinations in 2025.
I just got back from Mexico, my last trip of 2024 and I’m already starting to make my travel plans for next year. This year, I got to 2 countries for the first time: The Bahamas and Dominican Republic, so I’m hoping next year to visit at least 2, if not 3, new places. I have my favorites, like Mexico, that I return to again and again, but there’s nothing like exploring a new place and taking it all in. And while right now I’m focusing more on international travel, there are so many great destinations in the US that would make for a great getaway.
In fact, an island in Florida, just a few hours from us here in Southwest Florida, has made Forbes’ list of top travel destinations in 2025.

Forbes just released their list of Top 12 Destinations for 2025 which includes places from all over the world, and one island in Florida has made their list.
Longboat Key is an island right between Sarasota and Anna Maria Island and one of my favorite islands in the area. When I first moved to Florida back in 2019, I lived in Sarasota, and discovered Longboat Key almost immediately. There is a somewhat-hidden beach access next to a small motel where I’d always be able to find a spot and I’d have the beach nearly to myself. The water there is an incredible blue color with beautiful white sugar sand.
It’s quiet out there with some amazing hotels, motels and restaurants. In fact, one of those restaurants, Dry Dock Waterfront Grill, just made OpenTable’s list of the Top 100 restaurants in America for 2024. And also not far from Sarasota’s St. Armands Circle if you want even more options for food, drinks and shopping. Forbes mentions the brand new St. Regis as a recommended place to stay.
Other places in the US that made their list include New Orleans, Asheville and Santa Monica. You can check out their full list here
