Fort Myers Beach Restaurant Properties Sell for $6.9 Million
In a major waterfront deal, HM Restaurant Group bought four prime locations at Fisherman’s Wharf for $5.5 million. Bonita Bill’s, a longtime favorite bar and restaurant, closed its doors on Jan. 5, 2025. The deal includes properties at 700, 702, 716, and 718 Fisherman’s Wharf.
This sale ends a successful three-decade family business. Bill Semmer started modestly, spending $220,000 on his first location in ’91. He expanded by adding a second spot for $260,000 in ’95, then bought an extra parking area in 2000 for $200,000.
The new owners, who currently own local favorites Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille and Dixie Fish Co., haven’t revealed their plans yet. Their marketing director Joe Harrity hasn’t given any clues about what’s next for the property.
Two years after Semmer passed away at 76, this sale brings an end to an era. The proceeds will be split between his heirs.
