Cape Coral Animal Shelter Plans March 2025 Race To Help Pets in Need

The Cape Coral Animal Shelter will host its annual Walk, Wiggle, Wag & Run event on March 22, 2025, at 8 a.m. This event supports finding homes for pets.

Executive Director Liz McCauley says early sign-ups are breaking records. Runners can start with the timed 5K, while those wanting to take it easy can join the 1-mile walk at 9:30 a.m.

"CCAS brings hope to South Florida's homeless dogs and cats by understanding their needs and bringing an increased level of awareness to the intolerance of animal abuse in our community. This very popular event allows each of us to be part of the shelter's mission of making a difference for the animals of our community," said Pamela Aubuchon, Cape Coral Animal Shelter board vice president, to Cape Coral Breeze.

Big and small dogs will show off their speed in special races throughout the morning, plus there are events to showcase pet talent. There will be music, food vendors, and giveaways. Between races, dogs can try out fun activities while their owners check out local pet supply booths.

The shelter is currently undergoing an expansion to house more animals, showing the importance of fundraising events like this.
