Naples teen donates more than $1,000 to end poverty in Immokalee
For those of you who don’t remember, Hurricane Irma did quite a bit of damage here last fall. Immokalee was especially hard hit. I personally spent a lot of time in Immokalee after the hurricane helping the Red Cross distribute badly needed items to people who had lost it all. I was at the high school when Papa Johns brought in a semi and made pizzas for everyone. And I’ll be in Immokalee this fall handing out backpacks and school supplies because that’s what
I do. So when I see someone doing something like this I HAVE to share.
Aubrey Garcia, a junior at Golden Gate High School came up with the idea of selling advertising on her prom dress. She raised $1,550 from 8 local companies and wore their logos on her prom dress. She donated the money to the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee, whose mission is to help children break through the cycle of poverty in Immokalee. They used the money to buy a new laptop for a recent graduate of IHS heading off to college. THIS. This is an amazing story.
Aubrey Garcia You Are Amazing.
I love this ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍https://t.co/0ij5pmOLSb
