‘Tis the season for Christmas music, but it’s not all jolly and fun, as a study has revealed the deadliest Christmas songs to drive to.
A study conducted by the South China University of Technology looked at links between how many beats per minute are in a song, and how that impacted the way people drive.
The study revealed that while music can help drivers stay awake on long trips, songs with 120 bpm could potentially be more harmful. The study found that songs with higher tempos made it harder for drivers to focus.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did a survey on road crashes that revealed that a quarter of crashes were because of distracted drivers either listening to music or talking with passengers.
Following the university study, Chill Insurance in Ireland looked at popular holiday songs and ranked them by fastest beats per minute.
