Here are 10 Times Twitter Would’ve Exploded if it Existed Back in the Early 2000s, according to Buzzfeed.

I’m sure a lot of you recall Madonna‘s kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the VMAs, as well as Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction during Super Bowl XXXVIII. Now imagine if twitter as a thing back then. Twitter was launched way back in 2006, and lots of stuff happened before that. So here’s a list of events from the early 2000s that would have blown up on Twitter, if only it had existed…

If you missed the show this morning, you can see the full list of 10 Times Twitter Would’ve Exploded if it Existed Back in the Early 2000s.

  • Madonna's infamous kiss with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.

Sure Madonna might be overstaying her welcome on social media nowadays, but back in 2003 who could forget the moment when Madonna locked lips with Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV video music awards. The infamous kiss caused quite a stir, but one can only imagine the meltdown that would’ve occurred on Twitter.

  • Ashlee Simpson Has Lip-Sync Failure LIVE on SNL

Ashlee Simpson. The sister of Chicken of the Sea Lovin singer Jessica Simpson. Many of us almost forgot that Jessica Simpson had a sister, let alone one that also sang. Ashlee Simpson was even a guest on Saturday Night Live back in 2004 when she famously was caught lip-synching. I’m sure if it were to happen today Twitter would’ve gone nuclear with cringe Memes and reenactments of her awkward dance moves..

  • Martha Stewart Goes to Prison

Most people nowadays know Martha Stewart as Snoop Dogg’s BFF. But I bet you didn’t know Martha Stewart was this gangster. Back in 2004, Martha Stewart actually went to prison for insider stock trading. Martha Stewart probably could’ve avoided prison, but hey snitches get stitches.

  • Michael Jackson Dangles his Baby off a Hotel Balcony

Looking at Michael Jackson is weird. Looking at Michael Jackson dangling an infant child outside a hotel window is VERY weird. Back in 2002, Michael Jackson was seen dangling his newborn son off a hotel balcony in Germany. Luckily Jackson remained the king of pop, and not the  king of drop..

  • Janet Jackson's Wardrobe Malfunction

More than 540,000 complaints poured into the FCC back in 2004 because of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction. It all went down at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show while Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performed. Imagine the split in Twitter had it happen today? Team Janet or team Justin?

  • Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Get Divorced

Way back in 2005, the IT couple was Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Their fairytale marriage was the talk of the town. Well, that is, until Angelina Jolie came along. Brad Pitt and Angelina met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the rest is history.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger Becomes the "Governator" of California.

I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle… And your vote. Back in 2003 Movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger became the Governator of California.

  • America Tries to rename French Fries "Freedom fries".

Would you like freedom fries with that? This never really seemed to stick. However, in today’s political climate I’m sure it would’ve caused a star on Twitter if it were to happen today. Back in 2003, when France win support, the US and Iraq people tried to rename french fries, freedom fries. Now I wonder, what do they call french fries in France?

  • Elmo Speaks to Congress

You might’ve heard the Capitol Hill is full of government puppets. Well, back in 2002, there was at least one confirmed puppet on Capitol Hill. Elmo, testified in support of funding for music education. It tickles me every time I think about it.

  • Halle Berry is the First Black Woman to Win an Oscar for Best Actress

And finally, a great moment back in 2002 when Halle Berry became the first black woman to score herself an Oscar for best actress in a leading role in the film monster’s ball. Someone also says that Billy Bob Thornton scored as well, like for real. But that’s just a rumor.
