Here we go. Another cold front has moved into Naples, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Port Charlotte, and everywhere in between. It is time for comfort food. Nothing is quite as comforting on a cold day or night as a hot bowl of soup. I’m hoping to put on my PJ’s and get cozy on the couch tonight. Perhaps you are looking to do the same. If so, here are 5 soup recipes to keep you warm in Southwest Florida this week for TikTok Tuesday and all winter long.

Winter soup recipes

One of my favorite soups to make is carrot ginger. I don’t have a recipe but it is easy to explain. First, you need carrots. I use organic, about five of them. If you have a bunch that have lost their crispness, don’t toss them. Use them in this soup. I cut them up in big chunks and boil them. Next, I put about a tablespoon of butter in the base of a blender. In addition, I mince about an inch or inch and half of ginger. I like ginger and don’t mind it on the spicy side. Add it to the blender.

Several bunches of raw carrots

Fresh carrots are the base of this delicious nutritious soups.

As the carrots start to soften, I take them out of the water and put them in the blender. Their heat melts the butter naturally. Once the carrots are done, add some salt and about a 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the blender. More or less according to how creamy you want it. Finally, add chicken broth. I start with less then add more so I can keep the soup thick. I begin by filling with enough broth so that the carrots are half way covered then begin blending. Finally, it becomes a taste test. Start tasting and adding broth, salt, cream butter to your taste and desired thickness.

If you don’t like to wing it, like I do with this recipe, check this out. The recipe looks close to what I do. Enjoy this 5 winter soup recipes for TikTok Tuesday.
