If you’ve been down to Fort Myers Beach lately, I’m sure you’ve noticed the progress they’re making on the Margaritaville Resort, and now another branch of the Margaritaville brand is coming to Fort Myers!
When you’re driving over the Caloosahatchee on the Edison Bridge, you’ll see Lofton’s Island which is a small island that’s been sitting empty for years. It was purchased last year with the intent of creating a beach atmosphere and there’s nothing more beachy than Margaritaville.
NBC2 reports that a Compass by Margaritaville Hotel will be built on land next to Centennial Park and the island will be equipped with cottages, an event/wedding venue and plenty of boat slips. And if you don’t have your own boat, there will be an electric ferry to take people from downtown Fort Myers out to the island and back.
The project is currently in the permit stages, but should be complete by late 2024.
Update 4/28:
Margaritaville Resort on Fort Myers Beach says Lofton’s Island will not be associated with the Margaritaville brand.
