Looking for some fun in the sun? How about baseball, pirates and mermaids: Southwest Florida’s Weekend Vibes are here. What’s happening in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples and Punta Gorda August 11th through 13th.  Most kids are back in school now and this is always a time of transition for families. Dress like a pirate and compete in two different races this weekend in Southwest Florida

Attention all runners, there are two pirate themed races this weekend. Of course it’s more fun to dress up, if you can. Maybe skip the eye patch until after you cross the finish line. Scroll down to find out how you can participate. Finally, if you think YOUR grandma can cook good, wait until you see what is happening in the food department this weekend. The gloves come off for a Granny cook-off for charity. You know there is going to be some good comfort food to sample here.

  • Disney's Little Mermaid at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater

    This weekend is your last chance to see Little Mermaid at Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers. See Ariel and friends come to life through song and dance. The show has been getting rave reviews. Tickets range from  $30-$85

  • Medal Madness Pirate 5K, 10K, & Half Marathon

    Calling all pirates, and runners. This race is Sat, 8 AM at  North Collier Regional Park Soccer Fields on Livingston Road in Naples. Packet pickup starts 30 minutes before the race and ends 10 minutes before the race starts.
  • Pirate 5K & 10K at South County Regional Park

    Another pirate themed race is also Saturday at South County Regional Park in Punta Gorda. This race begins at 7:30am. All finishers will receive a themed medal. Packet pickup starts 30 minutes before the race and ends 10 minutes before the race
  • Fort Myers Mighty Mussels

    Fort Myers Mighty Mussels play the Bradenton Marauders this weekend with a lot of fun promotions. Friday is Publix night where fans sample free Publix ice cream before the game and employees get in free. In addition, to celebrate back to school,  kids 16 and under can get free admission. There are also fireworks following the game.

    Saturday is Bark in the Park when dogs are welcome and Sunday is all about the kids with Kids Club and the opportunity to run the bases.

  • Granny Getdown Food Competition

    This fun food competition is Saturday at St Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers. The event is a benefit for Dr. Piper Center with food prepared by many of the volunteers and other senior citizens. You get to vote along with a panel of celebrity judges. It’s from 11am-1pm

  • Summer Comedy Festival

    If you like comedy, check out this event at The Fort Myers Theater on San Carlos Blvd. It features comedians from all over Florida. Seating is first come first serve. Doors open at 6pm, show is at 7. $5

  • Cinema with the Symphony summer film series: ‘Green Book’

    Southwest Florida Symphony continues its new film series Friday at Bell Tower with “Green Book.” Show is at 6:30 with a pre-screening talk at 6.  Popcorn, wine, soft drinks and movie-style snacks will be available for a suggested donation. $20
