Gathering people of any kind together isn’t always an easy task, but one resort in Florida has made a list of the best for family reunions.
When it comes to an event where you’ll find laughter, tears, and an abundance of love, look no further than a family reunion. They’re kind of like a circus where everyone performs their unique role, creating memories that will last a lifetime. But they can also be hard to plan. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get stuck planning the next one, living in Fort Myers. It’s a place that everyone would like to visit. (Just hoping they don’t all want to stay with me).
One of favorite family reunion memories:
One great memory I have from a family reunion was finding out a good friend of mine was actually a cousin. We had gone to summer sports camps together growing up, but I guess I never mentioned his name, or maybe just his first, to my parents. When we arrived to the reunion, sure enough, he and his family were seated at the table next to ours. My mom and his dad are cousins! Obviously not super close because up until that point we had no idea, but it was so funny. We’re still great friends to this day.
Yes, reunions can be dramatic. They can uncover secrets. You can find out you’re related to friends. But they can also make for a great time to reconnect, or connect for the first time. They also can be a pain to plan. To make it easier, Travel + Leisure put together a list of the best resorts in the country for a family reunion. I think a nice resort is a great setting for that kind of gathering! Not only does it make for a great little getaway, but also, most resorts are big enough to hide if you have that one drunk uncle that you always get stuck talking to. You can check out the full list here, below are the top 5.
