New Years Eve is the biggest celebration of the year, with people all over the world getting excited about the end of one year and reveling in the promise of the year to come.

Whether you plan on hosting a quiet get-together with a few friends or attending a massive party, chances are there is bound to be alcohol involved. And where there’s alcohol, there are drinking games!
To find out which drinking games are the most popular, my team at Yellow Octopus analyzed search data and compiled a list of the most-searched drinking games by state.
Vermont is getting “lit” this New Year’s Eve, according to Google search data
It looks like the Green Mountain state has a wild side, as Vermont ranks no. 1 for Google searches involving “drinking games.” Overall, the top 10 states searching for drinking games are:
  1. Vermont
  2. Wyoming
  3. Delaware
  4. North Dakota
  5. Rhode Island
  6. Montana
  7. Alaska
  8. New Hampshire
  9. Maine
  10. Hawaii
Of course, there are so many different drinking games out there that it can be difficult to keep track of them all. In Florida, “Ring Of Fire” is the most popular. So which games are the most popular in other states? Let’s have a look.

  • “Ride the Bus” is the most popular drinking game

  • As it turns out, “Ride the Bus,” is the drinking game most likely to be played this New Year’s Eve, followed by “Ring of Fire” and “I Drink and I Know Things.”

If you’re like “What? I don’t know those games”, I’m here to help.

  • Circle Of Death

A turn in this drinking game consists of drawing a single card, and then performing an action associated with that card, just like in Kings.

  • Ride The Bus

  • I Drink And I Know Things

When it comes to a person’s turn, they say “I drink and I know” followed by a statement. If anyone else knows the answer they blurt it out and everyone else has to drink including the person who started the question. The person who got it right makes the next statement. If no one gets the answer, the group drinks and the asker gets to make another statement about something they know.

  • Ring Of Fire

Players draw cards from around the king’s cup. Based on the card drawn that player or many players will have to drink according to rules based on the card drawn. The game ends when the last king is drawn and the player drinks from the King’s cup. It seems to be a lot like “King’s Cup”, which we’ll explain next.

  • King's Cup

  • Truth Or Drink

A player asks a Truth or Drink question for the entire group to answer. If they refuse to answer, they take the shot. There’s also cards for this if you don’t want to make up your own questions.
