Weekend Vibes, What’s Happening In Southwest Florida April 21-23. Earth Day is Saturday April 22. Earth Day activities and recognitions are being held around the country, including locally. One of the biggest is at Lakes Park in Fort Myers. It’s ‘Ding’ Darling Day and carnival. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge only recently reopened on Sanibel Island following Hurricane Ian. Also, just in time for earth day, it will be peak time to view the Lyrid meteor shower. Get to a dark spot, away from street lights, and look into the northeast sky. Details are here.
By the way, just in time for Earth Day, most of Southwest Florida beaches are reporting low levels of red tide, so visiting them should be much more pleasant.
One alert to kick off the weekend
Friday night is going to be a little crazy in downtown Fort Myers and includes lots of road closures. First of all, it is the annual Music Walk. Scroll down for more details. In addition, former President Donald Trump will be attending an event at the Caloosa Sound Amphitheater. The event is sold out but still expected to draw crowds. Numerous roads will be closed, beginning in the afternoon hours.
It’s been nearly 7-months since Ian hit. Some days it’s still so hard to imagine. While things slowly get better, there is still so much need in our area. We understand things are still challenging for many many people. If you feel like getting out and about, we have a few ideas here. But then again, if you are not feeling so great mentally that is OK. Please take care of yourself. Here are some resources that might help.
