Ariana Grande Pulls Out of GRAMMYs: Here’s What We Know
Ariana Grande has pulled out of a scheduled GRAMMYs performance Sunday over a disagreement with show producers; now she also won’t be in attendance at all, according to multiple reports.
Insiders tell Variety that Grande felt “insulted” over Grammy producers’ initial refusal to let her perform “7 Rings,” which is the latest single on her forthcoming album “Thank U, Next,” out Friday. While they reached a compromise by allowing the song to be part of a medley, Grande was reportedly enraged over the producers’ demand to choose the second song.
“Such stipulations were not imposed on other performers at the show,” the source told Variety.
While Grande is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance for “God Is a Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener, as HITS notes, she was passed over “rather stunningly, for noms in the major categories.”
Neither Grande nor the GRAMMYs have publicly commented on the issue. And while she’s been promoted heavily in GRAMMY advertisements, time will tell if there is truth to the reports if she is a no-show Sunday night.
The GRAMMYs air Sunday, Feb. 10 on CBS.
