Hopefully, this won’t become common practice in the United States EVER, but a recent article in the Straits Times, Indonesia police are arresting teens who use tampons to get high. In Indonesia, drugs are very expensive and if caught using them, you could get the death penalty. So tampons, being legal, gives teens a way to get high without getting into trouble.

Teens boil the tampons in water and once the liquid cools they drink it causing a “flying” effect and hallucinations. Essentially its the gel inside of the tampon that gets you high, the bad part is teens are using used tampons to make the concoction when they aren’t able to get new tampons which could lead to bloodborne diseases such as HIV and hepatitis.
