Sam Smith, Normani Drop Out of Billboard Awards
Sam Smith and Normani have dropped out of their planned performance at the Billboard Awards next week.
On April 24, Smith, 26, made the announcement on social media. According to his post on Twitter, it’s because his medical team is requiring more rest of the singer.
Smith has been suffering from strain on his vocal cords for the last few months. He previously had surgery on his cords back in 2015.
“We apologize for the disappointment for those affected, but the primary focus at this time needs to be on Sam‘s recovery and health,” the post read.

While fans were curious if Normani would perform solo, the former Fifth Harmony singer has decided against it as well.
“Sam and Normani are no longer performing on the show,” a source told Hollywood Life.
The two were set to perform their hit, “Dancing With a Stranger.”
The Billboard Awards air May 1 on NBC at 8 p.m. EST.
