Kris Jenner Blames Herself For Her Childrens’ Need To Be Perfect
Kris Jenner attends the 27th Annual ACE Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street on May 03, 2023 in New York City.
Being a Kardashian comes with a lot of expectations when your mom is also your manager. Kris Jenner revealed in the latest episode of The Kardashians (June 9) that she blames herself for her daughters’ need to be perfect since she is like that herself.
On Thursday’s episode, Kris’ eldest daughter Kourtney Kardashian Barker, 44, celebrated the launch of her supplement brand Lemme. While visiting Kourtney during her New York City press trip with daughter Kendall Jenner, Kris, 67, got candid about the good and bad qualities she passed on to her children. The topic came up as Kourt and Kendall, 27, discussed the importance of managing their stress levels and taking care of themselves physically and mentally.
“My therapist will say to me it’s okay to not be perfect,” Kourtney, mom of three, shared with her mom and sister. She then told Kris, “It comes from you. It’s a good quality.” In a confessional, Kris joked about her daughter’s comment. “Everything, everything is my fault! Name something. It’s my fault. Whatever quality happens to come to mind, it’s my fault because I gave birth to them and I raised them, so arrest me!” The momager said of her six kids, including daughters Kim, Khloe, and Kylie, as well as son Rob.
The Blame Game
Kendall then chimed in, admitting, “I’m a control freak, and my therapist tells me to channel it into your work. You don’t have to do that in your personal life. You don’t have to do it at home. Just channel it into the right places, and then it’s all good. So channeling!” Before Kris exited, she added how “proud” she was of Kourtney. “She worked so hard,” she added in a confessional. “So I’ll take the blame for everything that I passed down that has anything to do with their anxiety over why they’re such perfectionists themselves.”
New episodes of the third season of The Kardashians are now streaming on Hulu. New episodes drop Thursdays.
Kim Kardashian Criticized Over Her 'Attainable' Beauty Standards
The Kardashians are known for pumping their bodies full of filler and going under the knife to achieve their coveted bodies. In a new interview, Kim Kardashian was asked if she feels “responsible, even guilty, for setting an unrealistic, unattainable beauty standard.”
“If I’m doing it, it’s attainable,” Kim told Allure magazine in response. “There are so many different beauty standards — whether it’s Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe. When I was a teenager, [the look] was just blonde waifs. My mentality was never like, you see them on TV or in magazines and pick who you want to be. It was always: Be yourself, find beauty in everything.”
In the same interview, Kim maintained that the only cosmetic procedure that she’s done to her face was “a little bit of Botox,” but has “chilled.” She denied “ever” having any filler in her face or even eyelash extensions. “I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today. I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips,” she stated, adding that her eyebrows are also real.
Although Kim says she is pretty much natural in the face, she did admit, “I really, genuinely care about looking good. I probably care more than 90 percent of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re in school, and I’m all of the above. I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments.”
The interview has since sparked backlash, with people taking to social media to call out Kim’s “out of touch” and “delusional” claim that her beauty standards are attainable.
