9 Florida Restaurants Make List Of Best Cuban Sandwich Spots In America
The Cuban sandwich is very popular, especially here in the Sunshine State, and 9 Florida restaurants made a list of the best Cuban sandwich spots in America.
One of my favorite sandwiches is, and has always been, a Cuban. Between the crispy bread and the layers of ham, pork, pickles and mustard there’s just something about the combination that is so delicious. While the sandwich did originate in Cuba, thus the name, it didn’t take long for the sandwich to gain popularity here in America. In fact, it was in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s that it became a staple in Florida as Cuban immigrants began coming to live and work in Ybor City.
I really have never had a Cuban sandwich I haven’t enjoyed, but I do have a few favorites. At the top of my list would be the Cuban at the Columbia Restaurant. A half Cuban and a 1905 salad makes for the most perfect meal. There are a few locations and every one of them I’ve been to has been wonderful. Other favorites for a Cuban include Cha-Cha Coconuts in Sarasota and also the Mambo Food Truck in Fort Myers. Now, that there’s a list of the best in America with so many locations in Florida, I have some new places to try.
