Carrie Underwood’s Trainer Offers Post-Holiday Workout Tips
The one-two punch of Thanksgiving and Christmas has added a few pounds to some of us, but Carrie Underwood’s personal trainer is showing us how to take ’em off.
Erin Oprea, who has also trained Kelsea Ballerini, Lee Ann Womack and Kellie Pickler, stopped by ABC’s Good Morning America this week to share her most useful get-back-in-shape tips. Among them:
Cut the sodium. “It leaves you puffy and bloated,” Oprea warns during the appearance. Beware of just about everything, she notes, as high amounts of salt are hidden in soups, lunch meats and many other food items.

Cut the alcohol. Replace shots of liquor from time to time with beet juice. “This will oxygenize your blood so you’ll have more energy to work out,” Erin explains. (See the tasty recipe here.)
Do Tabata workouts. “Tabata is a four-minute workout,” Erin continues. “It is 20-second bursts of exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest for eight rounds. It’s just a fun game.” There are Tabata workouts focused on a variety of areas, and Erin showed the GMA audience those for legs and booties. Check ’em out here.
