Sarah Hyland took to her Instagram Stories over the weekend to reveal she has lost a family member.
According to the posts, Hyland is mourning the loss of her cousin, Trevor Canaday.
Canaday passed away over the weekend in Nebraska — After the car he was riding in was struck by a drunk driver.
At the time of his death, he was 14 years old.
The ‘Modern Family’ actress also shared a link to a GoFundMe page set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
Additionally, Trevor’s dad, which is Sarah’s uncle, is still in the hospital, but is expected to recover from injuries sustained during the accident.
KETV is reporting that Jeffrey Eggeling disregarded a red light and drove through it, striking the Canaday’s vehicle.
Eggeling fled the scene, but was later arrested and charged with DUI.
