Halloween: Here Are Some Of The Hottest Costumes Of The Year
Some people will always be happy with generic costumes, and yeah, vampires, ghosts and superheroes are perennially great Halloween costumes. Google’s recently released list of the hottest Halloween costumes of the year (charmingly called “The Frightgeist”) features some oldies-but-goodies — like witches and dinosaurs — but it also features some very 2019 get-ups. Here are some of our favorites.
Pennywise from IT and IT: Chapter Two: With IT: Chapter Two in theaters now, it makes sense that the franchise’s evil clown, Pennywise, is a popular costume this year. In fact, IT is currently the most popular search at press time. If you want to be the type of evil clown that lures kids into sewers, go crazy with this Pennywise costume, or this women’s Pennywise costume or a plus-size Pennywise costume.
Spider-Man: Tom Holland’s Spidey starred in Spider-Man: Far From Home this year, and also appeared in Avengers: Endgame as well as last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Last year also saw the release of the very successful animated film, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. So it’s no surprise to see the wallcrawler at number three. Chucky: Child’s Play got the reboot treatment this summer, and the evil animated doll is once again a popular Halloween costume choice. Check out this Bride of Chucky costume, men’s Chucky costume, and this Chucky costume for women.

Harley Quinn (or her ex-boyfriend): The trailer for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) has reminded comic book fans that Harley doesn’t need a master (as she says in the trailer for the film), and that she was the one bright spot in the Suicide Squad movie. And with Margot Robbie signed on to play Harley in 2021’s Suicide Squad 2, expect her to be a popular costume choice for years to come. And yeah, her ex- starred in his own film this year, although that Joker wasn’t the same character from Suicide Squad here(it’s complicated). Joker is actually currently 27 on Google’s chart.
