Lazy Ideas To Bring For Thanksgiving
Some people thrive on preparing dinners and entertaining for others. They research recipes, take hours to cook, make items from scratch, have themes and or personalized decor, etc. And some of us are just lazy.
There’s no shame in taking short cuts, but the key is to cleverly disguise it. Here are some lazy ideas of stuff to bring for Thanksgiving dinner.
Bring the liquor
If you can’t or do not want to cook, just offer to bring the alcohol. It requires zero creativity, yet it’s the best thing at a meal. If you want to spice it up a bit and look like you tried, you can decorate the liquor bottles. HGTV has some great ways to dress up or make a liquor or wine bottle look fancy.
Make five-minute dish
Sometimes laziness isn’t the problem, its just that you don’t have time to make a lavish dish. Luckily, there are tons of recipes that only take around five minutes to complete. Carpe Season has a great five-minute potato casserole side dish. I Wash You Dry has a Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots dish perfect for any family gathering. Work smarter, not harder.
No-Bake Dessert
Physically turning on the oven can be a lot. If you offer to bring a dessert, go no-bake style. Country Living did the work for you and has a list of 46 easy no-bake desserts. Some include Chocolate Lasagna, Golden Oreo Truffles, Lemon Cream Pie, and Raspberry Cheesecake Bars. They all require few ingredients and even less effort.
Make the crockpot do everything
Sometimes it’s nice to have some assistance when cooking, and a crockpot is a great helper. There are tons of Thanksgiving dishes that can just be thrown and cooked in a crockpot. Delish has a list of recipes, even one for the turkey! Check them out.
Pick something up on the drive over
Okay, this is very lazy but very effective. Stop in a store and grab something if you don’t want to cook. Go one extra step, and put it in a Tupperware pan from your house. Mom and dad will never know.
There are also tons of stores and restaurants with ready-made full dinners or sides. Schedule ahead and get your meal to-go. My Recipe lists places to consider.
Or, just put a bow on a can of cranberry sauce and call it a day. At least you can say you tried.
