Britney Spears: Everyone Involved In Conservatorship ‘Should Be In Jail’
Today (June 23), Britney Spears showed up live via Zoom at the Downtown Los Angeles courtroom to address the judge in cutting her father’s control of her conservatorship loose.
The live court hearing has been shut down by the court due to supposed audio recording. After expressing concern about the release of confidential reports, they found out someone was recording the hearing.
On behalf of father Jamie Spears, his attorney relayed the message that he is “sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain.”
Mother Lynne Spears’ attorney is pushing for Britney to have her own attorney hand-picked and to push the medical treatment issues scheduled as soon as possible.
Spears’ lawyer, Samuel D. Ingham III says Spears has never sought to terminate her conservatorship. He added that if the court wants to replace him with private counsel he will follow the court.
Britney said she “wants to be able to get married and have a baby,” and that she has an IUD implanted that she wants to be removed. She alleged that she hasn’t been allowed to make those decisions on her own.
“I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy… I’m not OK, I’m not happy, I can’t sleep,” she said. “I’m so angry, it’s insane. And I’m depressed. My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management… they should be in jail.”
“It’s not okay to force me to do anything I don’t want to,” Spears said. “The conservatorship should end. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive.”
Spears doesn’t want to be evaluated to determine if she has regained her mental capacity. “I just want my life back,” the singer said. “All I want is to own my money and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his car. I want to sue my family.”
She said when she was doing the Vegas show, she told her management she didn’t want to do it because it was too much. She said she was forced to do the tour and the next thing she knew, they had changed her medication and put her on Lithium, which had a terrible effect on her. She said she was scared and her whole family did nothing.
Spears admitted to lying about her well-being “for years.” She alleged her father, Jamie Spears, “loved” the control he held over her as her conservator.
As we previously reported, Spears wants the judge to hear her out over her 13-year-long conservatorship, but the decision weighs entirely on a sign-off by a team of doctors.
The “Toxic” singer made it clear that she will not perform until her father is removed from conservatorship involvement completely. 39-year-old Spears has never asked the court to end the conservatorship but wanted her dad’s involvement to be terminated. Jamie Spears was once both her personal conservator and conservator of her estate. He has now been removed as her personal conservator and has been replaced with Jodi Montgomery as a permanent personal conservator. Jamie is now co-conservator of her estate with Bessemer Trust Company.
