The Venice High School Marching Band Is Not Allowed to Perform at Disney World Because The School Mascot Is The “Indians”
The Venice High School Marching Band performance at Disney World has been cancelled. In a letter from the Venice High School Principal, he explains the decision. That link will take you to the whole letter. I’ll include a few of the key points here.
“After Disney approved our school to attend, they notified us of a change in their own policies. Disney has stated that they are not allowing any depiction of Native Americans to be portrayed during events.”
“Our band deserves to be honored and celebrated without having to change our name or cover our identity.”
“After consulting with our district office we cannot approve a performance that requires the covering or altering of our school logo…. the trip itself is not cancelled. I hope you will all enjoy your day at the park. ”
The Venice High School trip is not cancelled.
The kids are still going to Disney World. But they will not be performing. On the plus side, that will leave them more time to try to figure out Genie+. There’s also a Reddit discussion thread on this. The comments range from ‘why not just cover up the logo’, to ‘how is the school name racist’?
Congratulations to our VHS Marching Indians for earning STRAIGHT SUPERIORS at Florida Bandmasters Association D11...

Florida Man Destroys Car In Disney World Parking Lot, Leaves A Hundred Dollars And A Note "Sorry"
One Reddit poster took to the platform to vent about their unfortunate experience at Epcot. Seems Disney World Florida Man was at it again with some pretty heavy front end damage to the poster’s car. The victim was enjoying a night out at Epcot watching the Hanson show when someone Mmm-Bopped their car. To add to the insult, whoever smashed the car left behind a hundred dollars and a note that said “sorry”. But no information so they could file a claim. From the picture it looks like they hooked the back bumper with this car’s front end. Probably sideswiped the corner.
The poster did the right thing, but isn’t expecting much “We did contact security and filed a case with FHP but they didn’t send anyone out because the vehicle wasn’t occupied and is on private property. They said they have an investigator who may contact us but we’ll probably only see footage if a case is pursued.” Speculation in the comment section would suggest that the Disney World Florida Man who hit the car was uninsured or had been drinking. Leaving the scene to prevent a DUI. Since it’s Florida, my money would be on “both”.
And who does that? A note that says “sorry” and a hundred bucks? There’s no way that’ll cover the deductible. And since they’ve not seen the footage, we don’t really know if its a Disney World Florida Man, or Disney World Florida Woman.
