Florida Man Charged with Attempted Murder after Shooting Disabled Landlord During Eviction.
As a landlord, you might occasionally find yourself in the position of having to kick out an angry tenant. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. However, you have to be real careful when you’re dealing with an angry tenant, because you never know when they might snap (like one Florida man who recently shot his disabled landlord while being evicted). So before you start the eviction process, make sure you’re well-protected. Wear a Kevlar vest, bring along a can of pepper spray, and for goodness sake, don’t forget your bulletproof umbrella! It’s better to be safe than sorry, folks. Trust us.
In Sanford, Florida, a 50-year-old man named Michael Mathews has been charged with attempted murder after shooting his disabled landlord. The incident occurred on Saturday, when the landlord entered Mathews’ bedroom, which he rented on South Crystal View in Sanford, and demanded that Mathews and his girlfriend leave the home. According to Fox 35, the landlord threatened to have a friend remove them by force if they did not leave within 10 minutes.

After around 15 minutes, the landlord returned and repeated his demand for them to leave. At this point, Mathews reportedly pulled out a gun and waved it around while telling the landlord to leave. As the landlord turned to leave the room, Mathews shot him in the collarbone area.
Mathews later told law enforcement that he had been feeling “disrespected in the house” and that the landlord had kicked his girlfriend as he approached them in the bedroom. However, authorities stated that the landlord was not armed and there was no justification for the shooting. Mathews is also facing a charge of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
