College Golf Tournament Cancelled Because The Par-4 Sixth Hole Was “Too Severe For Play”
The NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship cancelled round 3 of the tournament due to the excessive difficulty of hole 6. The tournament is being held this week at Mission Inn and Resort’s El Campeon Course in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The course is located in Florida about midway between Orlando, and The Villages. According to the Golf Channel “almost 60% of the 151-player field finished with play” when the round was suspended. The reason wasn’t weather, or a giant tree falling onto the course like at The Masters. The reasoning for stopping the round was the pin placement on Hole 6.
Before you watch the video, the NCAA is responsible for placing the pins each round. So you can’t blame the course. Also, this is the eight time the course has hosted the championship. So they really should have known better. It’s amazing the composure of the student -athletes. I’d be ready to throw my putter.

Golf Channel reported about the pin placement on the 5 percent slope “They should’ve known not to put [the hole] there,” said one coach, who added that there were also four questionable hole locations in Tuesday’s first round. “They just said they were sorry and they felt bad.”
The final round of the golf tournament was scheduled to start Friday at 8am.
