Lighthouse Beach Park On Sanibel Reopening
I’m so excited that next week, after months of being closed, Lighthouse Beach Park on Sanibel will be reopening.
Slowly but surely beaches around SWFL are reopening. So far on Sanibel, Bowman’s Beach, Tarpon Bay Road, Blind Pass and Gulf Side City park have reopened. But tomorrow, another beach will be open for enjoyment on Sanibel- Lighthouse Beach Park.
I ran into a few issues with parking on Memorial Day (I should’ve known better than to wait til 11am). So I decided to try the Lighthouse Beach Park, forgetting it was closed. If you drive over there now, you’ll see a gate and fencing blocking the entrance, so you can’t even get in there currently. But starting next Friday, June 16, you’ll be able to enjoy the beach where Sanibel’s historic lighthouse stands.
If you’ve been out to the island, you’ve seen the devastation, but it’s coming along. When I go to the beach, I always go to Sanibel and while seeing it the first time was tough, and admittedly not getting easier, it’s nice to see people on the beach. I have to say that the parking areas and the beaches are clean, clear and beautiful. It’s just the drive there that will break your heart. A lot of businesses have reopened on the island too, so before or after a beach day, maybe grab a drink or a bite to eat to show your support.
