Dua Lipa Never Listens To Her Own Music
In the September cover issue of Vogue France, Dua Lipa revealed there is “a lot of duality in me.” Dua, who recently celebrated her 28th birthday Tuesday (August 22), recalled that her earliest memories were related to music. “It’s always been a huge part of my life,” she tells the publication. “Not all music lovers want to perform in front of thousands of people.” As for the English and Albanian singer, Dua has always loved performance. “Dancing, singing, inventing choreographies in the playground… As a child, I dreamed while falling asleep: ‘It would be incredible to perform on a real stage…'”
As a fiery Leo, Dua shares that she loves to work because she always needs to be busy. The award-winning artist who is constantly traveling, putting out new songs, and collaborating with luxury fashion brands really means business. However, that doesn’t mean she is into her own business in her free time. Lipa tells Vogue France, “I never listen to my music. When I work on an album, it goes on repeat, but the second it comes out, I don’t listen to it anymore unless it happens to be on the radio or in a club…”
Though she doesn’t listen to her own tunes, the pop star lists some of her “eclectic” music taste. She listens to Sting because her dad loved him when she was younger. She also grew up listening to The Police, Stereophonics, Primal Scream, Pulp, Sade, “of course” David Bowie, Prince, and Elton John. Dua also loves French and Spanish music.

Elsewhere in the interview, Dua shared her thoughts on homophobia and transphobia. As an avid supporter of the LBTQIA+ community, Lipa told the publication that misogynists are the ones who are homophobic and transphobic. She adds, “A lot of people, deep down, are just afraid of themselves. The freedom of others confronts them with what they do not have the courage to express.”
