Nicholas Coffey Of Palm Coast Florida Was Arrested For Burglary After Bragging About His “New Mercedes” On Social Media
Another case of a Florida Man getting busted for being stupid. For some reason, criminals don’t seem to understand that the police also are on Tik Tok. What do you really think they’re doing when you see a cop car on the side of the road? They scrolling just like the rest of us. So when Nicholas Coffey of Palm Coast was on the socials bragging about his new Mercedes Benz, maybe that wasn’t the greatest idea.
So, there was a rash of break ins in Deltona Florida over the weekend. If you’re new, Deltona is just north of Orlando. Nicholas Coffey and a friend were breaking into vehicles and using a Mercedes that they had stolen in Ormond Beach, Florida as their getaway.
Unfortunately for the duo, they needed to gas up and at 4:30 am on Saturday in Deltona and they were spotted by security cameras. Nick’s distinctive neck tattoos and the fact that he was still wearing blue latex gloves aroused suspicions. Security images were circulated and a Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputy recognized him from a previous warrant. According to their facebook page “Deputies and detectives tracked down Coffey in Daytona Beach around 5 a.m. Sunday, arrested him on his outstanding warrant, and then transported him to Deltona for an interview with detectives. He did not deny being the subject caught on video but also did not confess to the crimes.”
License plate reader data puts the stolen car in the area of the break ins. The same stolen car he was bragging about on the socials. They were also spotted on residential security cameras.
