14 Florida Schools Named 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized 353 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023, including 14 schools in Florida. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups on assessments.  Unfortunately, this year we are not seeing any schools out of Southwest Florida.

The Florida schools recognized were:

  • Alachua Learning Academy in Alachua
  • Don Estridge High Tech Middle School in Boca Raton
  • Doral Academy of Technology Charter Middle School in Doral
  • Edgewood Jr/Sr High School in Merritt Island
  • Hollywood Academy Of Arts And Science in Hollywood
  • MAST@FIU Biscayne Bay Campus in North Miami
  • Okaloosa STEMM Center in Valparaiso
  • Pine View School in Osprey
  • Professional and Technical High School in Kissimmee
  • Queen Of Peace Catholic Academy in Gainesville
  • St. Petersburg Collegiate High School in St. Petersburg
  • Suncoast Community High School in Riviera Beach
  • Sunset Elementary School in Miami
  • The Children’s Reading Center in Palatka

Blue Ribbon Schools

The National Blue Ribbon Program has presented close to 10,000 awards to more than 9,700 schools. The award validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in striving for – and attaining – exemplary achievement. National Blue Ribbon represents the full diversity of American schools and serve students of every background.

These Are The Top 10 Party Schools In Florida; Ranked

School is in full swing for the 2023-2024 school year, and so is the football season, the Greek life and the college partying.  Which schools are the top party schools in Florida?

Of course the parents of freshman who were just dropped off a few weeks ago are cringing as they read this.  No doubt hoping that as they scroll they won’t see their child’s school listed as one of the top party schools in Florida.

The folks over at Niche recently released this year’s list of 2023 – 2024 party schools in the Sunshine State.

Methodology

The Top Party Schools ranking is based on student reviews and nightlife statistics. There are five factors that are considered when making the list.

  1. Student Surveys On Party Scene, 70%
  2. Access To Bars, 10%
  3. Athletics Grade. 7.5%
  4. Greek Life Grade, 7.5%
  5. Access To Restaurants, 5%

Student opinions obviously go a long way with these rankings.  I mean, 70% of the grades coming from student surveys?!  Wow, that’s basically the deciding factor here.

Seemingly absent from the top of the list are a few larger universities from the southern part of the state, including FGCU (#17).  I was surprised not to see the University of South Florida (#12) in Tampa and Florida Atlantic University (#16) over in Boca Raton, too.

With that said, there were a few surprises at the top of the list.  Several smaller schools have cracked into the top 10 on this year’s list of party schools in Florida.
