When 911 Becomes a Nuisance: Florida Man’s Repeated Calls Lead to Charges
It’s not every day that we stumble upon a true 911 enthusiast, but here’s a story that’ll make you raise an eyebrow or two. Meet James William Jubane, a 56-year-old Floridian who decided that dialing 911 was his new favorite pastime.
According to Fox35, You see, it all started with a little neighborhood dispute. James, apparently not one to shy away from giving orders, decided to boss around Marion County deputies during their investigation. But, when you’ve got a bunch of law enforcement professionals at your doorstep, it might not be the best time to play director.
Despite some friendly advice from the deputies about using the non-emergency line to chat with a supervisor, James just couldn’t resist the allure of the emergency hotline. Just an hour after the deputies had politely vacated the premises, James picked up that trusty phone again, dialed 911, and declared, “You want to charge me with abuse of 911? Go for it!” Now, that’s stupid.
911 Nuisance:
But James wasn’t done. Oh no, he was just getting started. Over the next couple of days, it seemed like he had developed a serious case of 911 fever. He made several more calls to 911, each one more audacious than the last. “I’m gonna keep calling 911 back! You can charge me all you want!” he boldly proclaimed during one of his calls.
Well, you know what they say, persistence isn’t always a virtue. It turns out that abusing the emergency hotline isn’t the best way to win friends and influence people. So, our 911 lunatic was promptly whisked away to the Marion County Jail, where he now resides, courtesy of an $8,000 bond.
In the end, James William Jubane may have taken his enthusiasm for 911 a tad too far. But hey, let this be a lesson to all of us… When it comes to emergency hotlines, it’s best to save them for emergencies.
VIDEO: Florida Man Becomes Shark Bait While Fishing
Here in Florida a lot of people head out on the water hoping for a big catch, but one Florida man became shark bait while fishing.
Fishing here in Florida is a popular recreational activity. In Fort Myers and Cape Coral alone, there’s so many places to go. Whether it’s fishing from shore or heading out for a deep sea adventure. A day on the water is always a good idea. And it’s made even better if you come home with a good haul. I grew up fishing, so when I moved to Florida, I was thrilled that I could do it year-round. My backyard is a big pond, so even just stepping out and throwing in a line is fun and relaxing.
Usually fishing is a pretty tame activity. However, one Florida man had a shocking encounter last week at Everglades National Park. The man, just identified as Nick, was out with a group of friends Friday morning in Florida Bay. The fish were biting and everything was fine, until it wasn’t. Nick had bent over the side of the boat to wash his hands and to his surprise, a lemon shark came and bit him, pulling him off the boat and into the water.
Thankfully, the group of friends were able to get Nick back on the boat and back to the dock where a ranger initially treated him. The Daily Mail reports he was then airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center and treated for an undisclosed injury.
