Florida Man’s Midnight Weed Nap Turns into Wake-Up Call from the Law
A 23-year-old Florida man from Sebastian found himself in a rather sticky weed situation on the Space Coast. It all began with what he probably thought was just going to be a “late night drive” under the stars… spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
According to the Miami Herald, it was 2 a.m. on a Friday, and a vigilant Brevard County Sheriff’s deputy was on the prowl. They were scanning the streets of Cape Canaveral for any signs of trouble. Suddenly, they spot a car, seemingly frozen in time, at a stop sign. Emergency lights flash, but it’s like the vehicle’s got a case of the immobilizing hiccups. No movement. Nada.
Our Florida man, who’s apparently having the most exhilarating nap of his life at the wheel, doesn’t seem to care about the flashing disco lights behind him. The officer approaches, only to discover our sleep-deprived driver peacefully catching some Zs amidst the aroma of, you guessed it, weed.
Weed Nap:
Not only did our snoozer not have a medical marijuana card on hand, but a quick vehicle search revealed a treasure trove of surprises. Like Cash, and lots of it. All chilling in his pocket, and an assortment of other substances, including the less-than-legal variety, cocaine. Oops!
As the impending doom of handcuffs hung over him, our stupid criminal made a daring escape attempt, but, well, let’s just say it didn’t exactly pan out. Sheriff Wayne Ivey wasn’t too impressed, questioning the suspect’s mental state with, “Are you nuts?”
In Brevard County, it seems the memo reads… “If you run from BCSO, you only go to jail tired!” Now with a bunch of Charges our drowsy daredevil traded his dreams for a bunk at the infamous Iron Bar Lodge, aka the Brevard County Jail. Complete with a hefty $17,500 bond as his admission ticket. So if you’re planning a late-night drive in the Sunshine State, better bring a cup of coffee instead of a bag of illegal substances.
