North Fort Myers Woman Hurt In Gator Attack
Living in Florida, seeing alligators is a regular part of daily life, but what doesn’t happen every day happened to a North Fort Myers woman who was hurt in a gator attack.
I live on a lake in Fort Myers, so it’s very common to see at least one gator out there swimming around, if not more. They’re usually pretty small, and if they get too big, they’re removed. But of course there are the neighbors who call every time they see one. Gators seem to, for the most part, keep to themselves. But every now and then you hear about one going rogue and attacking, whether it be a small pet, or even a human. And that’s exactly what happened to one North Fort Myers woman.

I can’t even imagine what I would do if I was just out taking a leisurely walk and had an encounter with a gator. The closest I got was when I was lived in a neighborhood in Sarasota with many ponds throughout. I was walking my dog and he stopped to do his business on the grass next to the water and I looked over and there’s a gator on the bank right beside us sunning itself. Thankfully, it seemed it either didn’t see us, or wasn’t bothered by our presence, but after that, I’m certainly a little more aware.
In North Fort Myers, NBC2 reports that a woman was walking her dog along James Road when a gator bit her leg. Reports don’t indicate injuries to her dog, but the woman was brought to the hospital for treatment and she is stable. The gator was caught and it was a big one- over 7 feet!
