Girl Scout Cookies Are Being Sold On The Black Market
In recent years, the demand for Girl Scout cookies has skyrocketed. That has caused a shortage of these beloved treats in many parts of the country. And where there’s demand, there’s opportunity – even on the black market.
That’s right. Girl Scout cookies are now being sold on the black market.
You might be thinking, “But wait, isn’t the whole point of Girl Scout cookies to support young girls in their entrepreneurial pursuits? And raise money for their programs?” Well, yes, that’s true. But when the people want their cookies, they’ll go to great lengths to get them.
This season, a new flavor of Girl Scout cookies was rolled out called Raspberry Rallies. It’s being described as a “sister cookie” to Thin Mints. They actually look super similar but instead of a mint flavored cookie, it’s pink and raspberry flavored. The Raspberry Rallies were available online only, so if you haven’t seen them while out and about, that’s why. And the popularity of this cookie was so huge that they were sold out within just a few days of them going on sale.
So where can I find these elusive Girl Scout Cookies?
Since they’re so hard to find, those that did get their hands on a box are two are heading to the black market. The cookies are now being listed on EBay for prices you wouldn’t believe. I saw one listing for 2 boxes selling for $320! It’s like the prohibition era all over again, only instead of speakeasies and bootleg liquor, we have cookie hustlers and contraband Raspberry Rallies.
Of course, this all raises some serious questions. Like is it ethical to profit off of something that’s meant to be a fundraiser for charity? Should we be concerned about the safety and quality of these black market cookies? And most importantly, what kind of punishment do you get for trafficking Raspberry Rallies?
For now, the Girl Scouts of America are cracking down on the cookie black market, urging people to buy only from authorized sellers and warning that anyone caught selling cookies without permission could face legal action. But the allure of those chocolate raspberry morsels is just too strong for some. So if you find yourself in a back alley, being offered a box of Raspberry Rallies from a sketchy-looking stranger, just remember: it’s not worth the risk. Unless, of course, they have some Samoas too – then it might be worth considering.
The new Girl Scouts cookie, Raspberry Rally, sold out in hours. Now, people desperate to try it can bid for it on eBay. The Girl Scouts would really rather you didn't, though.https://t.co/LFyTTY9uUL
