Clean Getaway Fail: Florida Man Busted for Showering in Someone Else’s Home

Just when he thought he would make a clean getaway, a Florida burglar found out you can never really wash off the stink of crime. According to FOX13, it was 5:30 in the morning in the beach town of Destin. A woman woke up to the sound of someone busting into her house. Not through the window, not through the backdoor, but right through the bedroom door.

So, what did she do? She hides in the bathroom and calls the police. Which is the smart thing to do for sure. Hide out, and wait for the cavalry to arrive. 

And they were coming, the cops from Okaloosa County were on their way, sirens blazing and all. When they finally burst into the house, guess what they find?  They found 27-year-old Harrison Lee, not ransacking the place, not looking for valuables, but taking a damn shower in the master bathroom!  Dude’s just chilling in the shower. Here’s a criminal attempting a literal clean getaway.  Just enjoying himself like he’s at the spa or something.

I can only imagine the homeowner’s face. One second you’re hiding in one bathroom, scared out of your mind, and the next thing you see is the intruder lathering up in another. That’s some hilariously disturbing stuff. .

So the deputies cuff this guy, who, by the way, is only wearing a towel at this point, and march him out. Now, Lee’s not just in trouble for breaking in, he’s also hit with criminal mischief. The only good news? He smelled great and no one got hurt. Just a dude who thought he’d break in and freshen up a bit.

Moral of the story? Don’t do the crime. You’ll never make a full clean getaway. You see, dirt always has a way of finding you, and the law is always there to clean it up.

Florida is a great place to live. It sure is quirky. But that is part of its charm. Social media always has some crazy story about Floridians. In addition, people who visit from other parts of the country are often taken aback by our weather, our insects and creatures, and lots more. At least one Southwest Florida TikTok user has had great success trying to explain Florida with his funny and unique videos. Here is some of his so-called Florida Man humor to make you laugh for TikTok Tuesday.

I’ve been following Josh Robinson, AKA omgitswicks, for some time now and I always get a kick out of his characterization of Floridians and how he turns everything from humidity and hurricanes, to mosquitos, into characters for his videos. He is a Southwest Florida native. He gets it, gets us. Robinson is always eating something from the Publix deli in his videos. Another famous prop is his old school flip phone that he allegedly uses to catch the crazy that often times defines Florida. Whatever he is doing works. He has more than 295,000 followers.

Here is a good example of how he tackles the ever changing and every challenging weather we have in Southwest Florida.

If you are on TikTok, you should follow too. However, you do not need a TikTok account to watch these videos that I’ve assembled. We’ll use mine. All you have to do is scroll down and then hit play. They are all office friendly. They are also fun to share with your with your “northern” and “midwestern” friends. If you live in Florida, you will relate, and get a kick out of these videos. There were so many to share that it was hard for me to pick just five.
