This is why having loyal customers is the best when you own a business.
Upon learning that the owners of Donut City are in need, patrons sprung into action. John Chhan’s wife, Stella, suffered a brain aneurysm and is now confined to a nursing home. After the workday wraps, he spends his time alongside her. Chhan had refused a GoFundMe charity drive, so the customers decided to do the next best thing, lining up each day at 4:30am and cleaning him out of all his doughnuts and coffee in just three hours. “I am very appreciative,” says Chhan, who has owned the Seal Beach, California store for 30 years. Is there a store that has become part of your daily routine? What keeps bringing you back?

Regular customers of #DonutCity on PCH in Seal Beach coordinated on Nextdoor and are now helping John Chhan sell out early every day, so that he can spend more time with his sick wife. From Susan Christian Goulding's article in the @orangecountyregister: "For the past 28 years, seven days a week, proprietors John and Stella Chhan have stood behind the counter cheerfully boxing and bagging doughnuts, muffins and cinnamon rolls each day until they sell out. A few weeks ago, however, regulars started noticing that half of the duo was missing. John Chhan explained to inquisitive customers that his wife had suffered a debilitating aneurysm."
