Great news, salad fans – the FDA says it’s okay to eat romaine lettuce again – just make sure you check the label first.
On Monday, the FDA said it’s safe to eat romaine harvested from Arizona, Florida, Mexico, or California’s Imperial Valley. That information should be on the label – and if it’s not labeled, the safe move is not to eat it. About 65 people in the U.S. and Canada were sickened by tainted lettuce in recent weeks. Most of that lettuce has been traced to the Central Coast region of California.
Did you have to throw out any lettuce? Why do you think these outbreaks keep happening?
