Halsey Reveals Upcoming Album Is First One She’s Ever Written Manic
Grammy-nominated singer Halsey says her newest album is the first one she has ever written while manic, opening up to fans about the details of her bipolar disorder.
The singer, 24, made the revelation in her interview with Rolling Stone magazine. While it’s not the first time she has revealed that she is bipolar, the interview gives an in-depth look that Halsey has previously not shared.
“It’s hip-hop, rock, country, f****** everything because it’s so manic,” she said. “It’s soooooo manic. It’s literally just, like, whatever the f*** I felt like making; there was no reason I couldn’t make it.”
Halsey revealed that she was diagnosed at the age of 17 after a suicide attempt and that she has since had herself committed twice to combat depressive episodes.
She told the magazine that she has been in an extended manic period and that she isn’t sure when it will end.
“I know I’m just going to get f****** depressed and be boring again soon,” she says. “And I hate that that’s a way of thinking. Every time I wake up and realize I’m back in a depressive episode, I’m bummed.”
Halsey’s third album has yet to be given a release date. It follows 2017’s Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.
