Gov. DeSantis wants to give an extra $1K stimulus payment to first responders
In a press conference yesterday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis proposed the state of Florida give an extra $1,000 stimulus check to first responders. According to Local 10 DeSantis said. “I’m proposing a one-time, $1000 bonus payment to all first responders, firefighters, sworn law enforcement and EMTs, which totals about $208.4 million dollars.”
This money would come from Florida’s share of the federal government’s recently passed COVID-19 relief bill. This is just one of his recommendations that will be discussed in the upcoming days on how Florida will be spending the money. The full speech from yesterday is below.
