Craft Beer Made from Airport AC Units
There’s a new Craft Beer made in town and it’s been hiding in plain sight at San Diego International Airport all along. That’s right, the East Village Brewing Company has turned to the most unlikely source for their latest brews, the air conditioning units at the airport. Finally, a beer that captures the essence of stale recycled air and overpriced fast food.
It’s like they always say, “when life gives you condensation, make beer.” And that’s precisely what the East Village Brewing Company did. They collected all of the AC runoff from the airport, gave it a good ol’ purification treatment, and voila, Hoppy Travels and Preflight Pils were born.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Condensation beer? That sounds as appetizing as a lukewarm soda left out in the sun for three days.” But don’t knock it till you try it, my friend. According to the reviews on Untappd, the beer app for beer snobs, the new beers aren’t half bad. Hoppy Travels even has a grapefruit and guava flavor, which is perfect for people who love their beer with a little extra pulp. Meanwhile, Preflight Pils has notes of lemon zest and a bready flavor. Sounds like a sandwich, but trust me, it’s a beer.
Craft Beer Airport AC:
If you’re someone who loves the smell of jet fuel and the taste of sweat, then you’re in for a treat. Next time you’re stuck at San Diego International Airport with nothing to do but wait, grab a pint of condensation beer and watch the planes take off. It’s like a little vacation in a cup. Plus, it’s a great way to kill time while you wait for your delayed flight. Who needs a plane ticket to travel when you have Hoppy Travels?
At the end of the day, we should all be grateful for the East Village Brewing Company’s innovative spirit. They could have played it safe and added more hops to their beer like every other brewery out there, but no, they went above and beyond. They made a beer out of airport air. And for that, we salute them. Who knows what they’ll turn into beer next? The possibilities are endless. I, for one, am looking forward to trying their “Bird Poop IPA” made with 100% organic seagull droppings. Cheers!
