5 Celebrity Weddings in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, the city of endless entertainment and apparently, some very impulsive wedding decisions. We couldn’t blame those who wed there though since there are literally chapels all around the city conducting weddings 24 hours a day. While most of us head to Sin City for a bachelor/bachelorette party or a wild weekend getaway, celebrities often throw caution (and sometimes, the nagging feeling to get a pre-nup first) to the wind and get married, the Vegas way.
From a 55 hours marriage to an elopement that’s still going strong, Las Vegas is one popular destination for celebrity weddings. Let’s take a look at celebrity weddings that took place in the entertainment capital of the world and which of these celebrities are still together.
Las Vegas Celebrity Weddings
Lily Allen and David Harbour
Lily Allen and David Harbour had their wedding in Graceland Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in 2020 followed by In-N-Out burgers. The couple wed a day after they obtained a marriage license.
The couple, or rather the ex-couple, however, split last year before Christmas. Allen reportedly checked herself in a trauma clinic since she’s not dealing well with the split and has been “spiraling.”
Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike
Nicolas Cage married make-up artist Erika Koike in Vegas in March 2019. However, he filed for annulment just four days after claiming he was too drunk to understand what he was doing and that he wasn’t aware of Koike’s relationship with another person, as reported by USA Today.
However, it seemed the Face Off actor was not deterred from marrying in Las Vegas because, in February 2021, he married girlfriend Riko Shibata. The couple are still together.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner began dating in 2016 and surprised everyone with a Las Vegas wedding in May 2019 right after the Billboard Music Awards as reported by ET Online. In September 2023, Jonas filed for divorce. The ex-couple confirmed via Instagram that it was a mutual decision. However, the two have been embroiled in a messy custody battle for their daughters. In October 2023, they reached a temporary custody agreement.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos
A Las Vegas wedding fairytale! Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos first met in 1995 during his audition for Ripa’s show All My Children. Consuelos was cast as Ripa’s character’s love interest and the two began dating shortly after. The couple briefly broke up in 1996, but it didn’t last long because they got married the week after! The couple is still together, 29 years after they eloped to Las Vegas on May 1, 1996.
Britney Spears and Childhood Friend Jason Alexander
A best example of “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,” Spears’ wedding to her childhood friend Jason Alexander was a result of intoxication. In her memoir, The Woman in Me, the “Toxic” singer wrote, “People have asked me if I loved him. To be clear: he and I were not in love,” she writes. “I was just honestly very drunk — and probably, in a more general sense at that time in my life, very bored,” per People. The marriage lasted only 55 hours.
