Sanibel Island Mandates Wearing Masks In Public Buildings
The Sanibel Island City Council voted on Tuesday morning to proceed with an emergency proclamation that would require people to wear face coverings amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to NBC2.
The emergency proclamation will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 3. There is not a set end date at this time because the council would rather discuss the issue often and keep the order fluid based on the current state of COVID-19.
Masks or coverings will be required to be worn in public buildings, food and retail stores, and restaurants prior to being seated. People will not need to wear masks on the beach, golf courses or private residences.
