Atlanta, L.A., San Diego, and Nashville all have announced plans to keep schools closed this fall
Three of the nation’s largest school districts said Monday that they will begin the new school year with all students learning from home. Nashville plans to do the same, at least through Labor Day. Several other cities were considering similar plans, while others have adopted hybrid plans through which students would be in school on certain days and at home on others. New York City, has announced such a hybrid plan. The idea is to try to create distance between students by reducing the number in the building at any given time. No word yet on any cities here in Florida.
The White House disagrees with this decision. “Schools should be opened,” Trump said when asked for his message to worried parents. “Schools should be opened. Kids want to go to school. You’re losing a lot of lives by keeping things closed.” A CDC official said Monday that decisions about whether to open schools should depend on the local situation.
